Red Faction: Guerrilla takes place in 2120. The Earth Defense Force (EDF), the allies in the original “Red Faction”, has become the main antagonist of Guerrilla. The organization has now turned to kidnapping people and putting them in forced work camps for their own profit.

Players assume the command of character Alec Mason, a former miner who rebels against the EDF. Alec is seen wearing a desert army jacket and cargo trousers, and is a man of unknown background. He entered the war against the EDF because of his brothers murder and has become a part of the newly re-formed Red Faction, whose motto is “Better Red than Dead”/”A Free Mars, or Death!”.

Rick White revealed that most of the game will take place on the terraformed surface of Mars, with other locations including the Ultor labs, to pay homage to the first Red Faction.

In February 2008, it was announced the third installment of the Red Faction series was coming to multiple platforms, only basic details were revealed. On July 15, 2008, Rick White, a producer at Volition, debuted a demo at the E3 gaming expo in California (see below). The title was confirmed at the 2008 Game Developers Conference (GDC ‘08), and in mid-2008, a private multiplayer beta was released on Xbox Live.

Among the details revealed at (GDC ‘08), were a new and fully upgraded Geo-mod system (Geo-Mod 2.0). It was also confirmed that the game would take place in an open world environment.[4]

A live demo of the game debuted at E3 2008, with narration by Volition producer Rick White. Many of the game’s features were presented during the demo. These features include: multiplayer, the upgraded Geo-mod system, new weapons, vehicles, a brief plot preview, among others.

At the 2008 Penny Arcade Expo, a demo of the multiplayer element of the game was shown. The demo showed off the game mode “Team Anarchy”, and “Damage Control”, as well as some backpacks that the player can equip for certain powers.

In mid-2008, Volition opened a private multiplayer beta to Microsoft to see what needed to be fixed or added. Friends and family codes were sent to survey participants on July 30, 2008. Volition confirmed that IGN had distributed up to 25,000 codes to expand the beta further via paid public membership. Public keys for the Xbox 360 version were released through Fileplanet.

On August 25, 2008, Volition’s Community Manager, J Goldberg (V-Singular) announced on the official Red Faction community forums that he was giving away the last few remaining beta keys in his possession. On August 26, 2008, the last Red Faction: Guerrilla Xbox 360 Beta activation key was given away.

The Red Faction: Guerrilla Beta on Xbox Live came to an end on August 29 at 3AM EST.[5]

In February 2008, preview screenshots of Liran were leaked to the Internet, causing members at various game forums to come to consider one weapon shown to be an “Ostrich Hammer” based on its shape. Over one year later, on April Fools Day 2009, Volition released a video commenting on the forum posts, and jokingly implied that the Ostrich Hammer would be a weapon in the game.[6] However, due to the positive response to that video, Volition has announced that there will really be an Ostrich Hammer weapon present in the game.[7][8]. On April 23, a single player demo was released on both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation Network.A multiplayer demo was released on May 21 on both platforms Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation Network. The multiplayer demo was removed from the Playstation Network soon after it was made available due to problems connecting to games.

Is a peace activist costume offensive?

Posted by admin on March 29th, 2010 and filed under camo trousers | 9 Comments »

Hello all. Little problem (again) with my parents, though it left me more confused than anything…I’m 26, with a hubby and nearly 11 month old son. For Halloween, we dressed up our son as a 60’s peace activist, as we found some cool grungy camo trousers, a linen shirt and a khaki overshirt in the bargain bin at the Baby Gap. We made a little sign saying "Make Cookies, Not War!" as a funny joke and took him trick or treating with the neighbours and their kids. Everyone thought he was cute, and our 80 something year old neighbour loved it, and gave him a hug and a tangerine.

Yesterday, I sent the pics to my mom and dad and family as I do to keep them in the loop of our lives as I am an American living in Scotland. I got an email from my dad this morning saying that he was offended by our costume and pretty much said, live your life keep us out of it. I fail to understand where a simple Halloween costume can cause so much offense. Sure, I can understand if it’s Hitler or a
suicide bomber, but a peace activist??

Am I going nuts or does that sound looney tunes?? It’s a bloody costume, and now my folks won’t bloody talk to me. We’ve had trouble with the folks before and I still don’t think they’ve forgiven us (we asked them for money in my trust fund which they refused to give us so we could put a deposit on a flat).

Am I in the wrong??
Here’s the offending costume so you can see for yourself…

No offense taken, brianthesnail – it was a last minute idea and we saw some clothes at the Baby Gap for sale, and thought it was a cute idea. I just don’t understand why they are so miffed? Surely, a devil costume or something mocking religious figues would be more offensive?
More than a little hurt that even given recent disagreements (which I thought we were patching up), that he would get so worked up about a costume that was obviously not meant as an insult to anyone.
My parents are not war activists, btw.

No I dont think you were worng. In fact that is very cute! I would have hugged him too. But about your parents, maybe even if you dont think you are wrong, you should apologize. It’s best to have them in your life a little, they are your parents. Just be nice, and let them get their way on the little things, not the big things and you’ll have smooth sailing for the most part. It’s one of those, just over look it things. So, they complain about a costume, it’s not the end of the world. They still love you, even if they are being rude and obnoxious sometimes. I still fight with my mother over my lifestyle <Bisexual pagan>, but for the most part, I dont ask about the things that bother me about her and she dosen’t ask about my things that bother her. We love each other, but it’s kind of a slient agreement. and when they bring up something you dont want to talk about just say "Hey Mom(or Dad) I dont share your opinion on that, and even though it is valid, I dont want to hear it, it will just cause an agrument" You know the old never talk about politics, sex or religion around the dinner table rule! Be nice and polite but firm and they will understand you are an adult now with your own feelings and opinions, their thoughts on that be damned. They will learn to let it go, but you have to let it go first. Thats who I deal with my mother, and it works. Just always be polite and you’ll be fine.

If I were to use nanotechnology to combat a buildup of faeces in my pants, what type would you suggest?

I’m in a real bad way. Any suggestions welcome!

Do Army standard camouflage trousers keep you warm?

Posted by admin on March 29th, 2010 and filed under army trousers | 5 Comments »

it is -22F as I type this and my answer is no. If you have the trousers that are part of the ECWS, the answer is yes. These are not however usually standard issue. ECWS= Extreme Cold Weather System

If you ask one of our soldiers in Iraq, he will most likely say the standard trousers are very warm.

Bless our troops

What size in Uk sizing would a mens Hugo Boss size 56 trousers be please?

Posted by admin on March 29th, 2010 and filed under cargo trousers | 1 Comment »

There is a pair of Hugo Boss men’s cargo trousers on EBay and it states size 56 which I guess is Euro or Italian sizing. I have asked the seller for what this equates to in UK sizing but no reply as yet. I just wondered if anyone knew the answer?? Thank you

Here is a size chart

for your reference.
I hope it can be of great help for you.

how do I get rid of bleach marks in my favorite combat trousers??? (they are purple and fab)?

Posted by admin on March 29th, 2010 and filed under combat trousers | 4 Comments »

Unfortunately Bleach is not a stain. It removes color. The only way to fix it is to redye them or take them to a professional and have them dyed again. Sorry, this doesn’t always work because of the difficulty of matching the original color. Best of luck.
