Hey ya’ll! I need some help perty badly. You see Im in my schools Army JROTC and we have a Color Guard tomorrow evening, we had very short notice on this and when we were being reissued our Class A Dress Green Uniforms (we had sent them to the cleaners over summer) mine was missing from the stack. Luckily the only item that needs any tailoring is that my trousers need hemming. My question is how exactly are they hemmed? I know they need to be slightly diagonal from the laces to the heel but I need more details PLEASE. I have sombody that can do it for me they just need these specs. thank you!
It is called a "West Point" hem and the back should come about 1/2 inch above the neel of the dress shoes and the front should be high enough so that you only have a slight break in the crease.
Army Class A Uniform Trouser’s Hem?

Although the origin and author of this poem is unknown. It first appeared in a Cavalry Journal in 1923. Captain “Sammy” Pearson has been quoted as encouraging ‘every good cavalryman’ to learn it.

Three ex-generals in the US army….?
are told they are being relieved of duty due to defense budget cutbacks, as compensation they can have $10,000 for every inch from one part of their body to another.
The first general says "I’ll have from my toes to the top of my head" The medical examiner in charge says "that’s 72 inches, so here’s $720,000"
The second general says "I’ll have from my toes to the tips of my fingers when my arms are over my head." The medical examiner says, "that’s 92 inches, so here’s $920,000"
The third general says "I’ll have from the end of my dick to my balls" The medical examiner says "Ok, drop your trousers and we’ll measure the distance"
When the general drops his pants the examiner says "where are your balls?"
The general says" in a paddy field in south Vietnam!!"

WASHINGTON (Army News Service, Aug. 25, 2010) – - Female Soldiers may be wearing a more form-fitting version of the Army Combat Uniform, That’s according to a press release from the Army News Service released Aug. 25, 2010. The New Female only uniform features more room in the hips and legs and may be implemented by 2014. PEO Soldier, which develops and tests new equipment for the Army, has been interested in creating a version of the ACU more suited to a woman’s body since 2005. After listening to focus groups of female Soldiers in 2008, PEO Soldier learned some features of the ACU bother women such as over-sized shoulder seams, baggy overall shape, and its non curve-friendly fit. Changes being evaluated in PEO’s re-designed uniform include 13 sizes in both the jacket and trousers, an elastic waistband, a more spacious hip area, a shortened crotch length, a more tailored jacket, and re-positioned rank and name tapes. About 500 women were measured to determine needed adjustments, and 600 female Soldiers are slotted to receive the uniform for a user evaluation starting in January 2011. Once the uniform has been evaluated, it will need to be approved by the Army Uniform Board before being issued to troops. Developers predict the uniform will be huge a success and will improve overall functionality.

Was the British army uniform in WW2 as rubbish as it looked?
It seems as if it’s made from an itchy wool that looks really uncomfortable and unsuitable for certain tropical conditions. Is it a one piece as well? It looks as if the shirt and trousers are connected. I know we had a material shortage during the war but was it seriously that bad? Surely a better design could of been constructed. I’d hate to have worn it, like I said before it looks so uncomfortable and itchy. Anyway I want to know whether it was good or not. Also why did we stick to the old ‘tin hat’ helmet? I know turtle helmets were issued to some British soldiers during D-day but the design isn’t exactly dramatically different. Why didn’t we just make more British para helmets for all regiments of the military?
Unfortunatley I can’t post any links to the image.
Great answers so far. Keep them coming.
The uniform was not a one piece. It consisted of a battledress blouse, trousers, boots and puttees with a gas cape or waterproof poncho against the rain.It had brass buttons that had to be polished and you had to be able to ’see your face in the polished boots. It also had a webbing belt with the regimental badge on the buckle and various straps and loops to hold a bayonet, water bottle etc.It was extremely itchy and if it got wet, took hours to dry. Troops serving in the Far East or Egypt would not wear this. They would be issued with tropical kit of khaki shorts and short sleeved shirt.

The British Army- help please?
I live in a town miles from the nearest military camp in the south west, but recently I have seen soldiers wandering about whilst I drive home from work- they look as if they’re on a lunch break or some such.
They wear camoflauge trousers and shirts, which doesn’t give a lot away, but their berets might. Very light blue (‘baby blue’) with a badge embroidered on a black square- any ideas which Regiment these troops belong to? I am asking purely out of interest.
The only thing I can think of is that there is a helicopter factory nearby (civilian), and a Fleet Air Arm camp about an hour distance.
Any idea? Thanks!
Yeovil, thats the factory of Westland, and the Navy base is Yeovilton?
Anyway its likely the Army Air corps as your other guys said, what the 11th Sussex is is beyond me, I have only been working with the Army twenty years, so may have missed them. Of course the boys wouldnt admit that the AAC are real soldiers, not until the sh!t hits the fan and they need a dustoff
army cadets turnout?
im new at the cadets and am not sure how to secure your combat trousers at your boots do you simply fold them in to your boots or something else i dont know
Blousing bands or a short fold ‘n tuck and the BDU’s blouse themselves.
